Imedeen announce rugby star Ugo Monye as brand ambassador

ugoIMEDEEN MANAGEMENT, £40.80Imedeen today announce the appointment of Harlequins rugby player Ugo Monye as brand ambassador for their Man-age-men one-a-day skin supplement.

I met Ugo at a function a couple of years ago and as well as being built like a fire truck he’s a fantastically sharp, funny and dapper guy with bags of charm and charisma. He’s also genuinely into his skincare and personal grooming.

“Health, fitness and looking good is at the top of my radar,” he says. “I turned 30 last year and I don’t want to start seeing the effects ageing has on my skin.” Hence the choice of Imedeen man-age-ment which is the perfect supplement if you’re looking for an insurance policy against the ravages of time. Anyway, he’s a great choice so well done Imedeen for snapping him up.

Spray don’t pray!

in transit spray on moisture RRP£18.00Now that the weather’s beginning to improve you might well be starting to think about what grooming products to take on your holidays. If, like me, you live in a metropolis, you might also be wondering how on earth you’re going to keep cool on a day-to-day basis. Well, the answer comes in the shape of this great little moisture spray from thisworks

A less messy way to add moisture to dehydrated skin it’s a wonderful thing to have in travel bags, suitcases or on your desk for those hot-as-hell moments. Light as anything, non-sticky and easily absorbed it’s formulated with organic aloe vera water, sea minerals and plant oils and is easy to use: you just spray onto your skin and leave. It’s like a cooling water spritz but moisturising as well as refreshing and is probably my favourite skincare product so far this year.

The Lynx Manwasher – the ultimate shower tool for men

If there’s one thing you can say about Lynx it’s that they’ve never stopped being witty, clever and innovative. Their advertising has always pushed the envelope (the fallen angels remains one of my fave grooming ads) as have their products.

And now, in that spirit, the team at Lynx have developed the ultimate shower tool for men: The Lynx Manwasher. An easy to use, dual-sided shower accessory, the Manwasher makes for a brilliant, palm-sized body exfoliator, replacing cumbersome luffas and brushes, and can be used in conjunction with Lynx shower gels to ensure you get squeaky clean.

One side features a textured scrubbing pad (making it perfect for tackling tough skin on heels, elbows and knees) while the other has a lathering micro-mesh “scrunchie” which ensures you get the most out of your shower gel. Not only does it help whip up a fantastic lather (making your gel go further in the process) it also gently removes dead skin cells, polishing skin and leaving it smooth, soft and conditioned.

So whether you’re scrubbing up for an important date, interview or after a muddy Saturday afternoon five-aside the Lynx Manwasher is the perfect way to feel clean, confident and 100% fresh.

The Lynx Manwasher is available at retailers nationwide priced £3.99. For more information, special offers and other fun Lynx stuff go to www.facebook.com/lynxeffect

Lab Series Instant Skin Booster – your winter skin saver.

It’s been a few weeks since I last updated this blog (work got in the way I’m afraid) but now that I’ve managed to grab a few spare minutes I thought I’d mention one of the products that’s seen me through through the late nights and early starts: Lab Series’ new Instant Skin Booster.

Without a doubt, Lab Series has been the skincare company where all the action has been this year. Not only have they launched a raft of new products where many other companies have released just one or two, the new additions to their range have been clever, innovative and (most importantly of all) useful.

Of the most recent additions to the range, this lightweight serum is designed to be used under your moisturiser and instantly goes to work cooling, refreshing and toning otherwise tired and puffy skin.

It’s great at perking up hangover skin but equally useful at giving it a boost at the end of the working day too so definitely think about keeping a bottle in your office drawer. Like all serums a tiny amount is all you need so even at £38 it’s a sound investment, especially as we head towards the party season.

Available from labseries.co.uk priced £38 for 50ml.

Clarins Men launch 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser: a bit of rough?

If you like the ClarinsMen range you’ll be pleased to know that June sees the launch of their brand new 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser. Capturing the current zeitgeist for multi-functional products it’s a daily-use product that cleanses and exfoliates at the same time and a study of 43 men (not many I know but enough to give you a rough idea) showed it delivered fresher looking skin straight away and after four weeks made shaving easier, with less cuts. The exfoliators it uses to achieve these results are a combination of natural lava powder and tiny microspheres of salicylic acid.

So how do I rate it? Well, I tend to think that the key to a daily exfoliating product is fine, non-abrasive particles that gently polish rather than scrub your skin (after all you’re using it daily not twice weekly) and to me the texture of this feels a little bit rough. I’m a huge fan of daily exfoliators though (I love Lab Series’ Multi-Action Face Wash for example) as they simplify your routine, so I’ll be interested to know what Clarins fans make of this one.

ClarinsMen Exfoliating Cleanser will be available in June prices £20 for 125ml

REN get down and dirty to promote clean skin

REN have long been one of my favourite skincare companies, thanks to their carefully-sourced ingredients and understated packaging.  Ren itself means ‘clean’ in Swedish and to remind people of the company’s natural approach to skincare they’ve just produced their first short film.

Shot in a fjord in Sweden (makes you jealous just looking at it) and featuring two young lovers getting down and dirty (makes you even more jealous) there are two versions –  the one below and a naughty 18+ version, with lots of Swedish-style nudity, which I can’t show here but which you might want to look up on YouTube!

Ahhhh, no more Omega 3 ‘fish breath’!

You gotta laugh. One day I’m writing about casual celebrity encounters in restaurants and the next I’m reviewing fish oil but there you go, that’s the beauty of blogging. And of not being remotely snobby about what I write about.

So anyway. If, like me, you regularly take omega oil supplements you’ll be all too aware of the unwanted ‘fish burps’ they can illicit (a real pain when you’re at a product launch trust me). So it’s with considerable relief that I’ve come across this Omega 3,6 and 9 supplement from Paradox.

The fact that this particular supplement is blended with pure olive oil, along with lemon oil, means they don’t have that fishy repeat. Since omega oils are thought to be good for skin and hair (some studies have shown that a deficiency can lead to dry skin) that’s good news for my looks – and even better news for my friends.

Paradox is available online and in store at Boots, Holland and Barrett as well as other independent health food stores and pharmacies.
