Czech & Speake’s Oxford & Cambridge Shower Wash & Body Lotion Duo: ridiculously cute

czech & speake lavenderAt £25 for two 65ml bottles Czech & Speake’s Oxford & Cambridge Shower Wash & Body Lotion Duo isn’t cheap but if you’re a lover of luxury and superb fragrance this delightfully dinky travel set is the ultimate addition to your weekend washbag. The cologne spray itself – a finely balanced blend of French lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary and Bergamot essential oils –  is probably my favourite lavender fragrance (it’s one of the few that doesn’t leave you smelling like your nan’s knicker drawer) and I take a travel-sized bottle with me almost everywhere. If you’re already a fan or, once you’ve tried it, about to become one, these additions to the range will be your new grooming essentials. But probably not your nan’s. Which is a relief.

Czech & Speake’s Oxford & Cambridge Shower Wash & Body Lotion Duo is available here.

Grooming Guru Essentials: Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur Shower Gel

Geranium pour monsieur boite+baseHROne of the great things about having a blog is being able to write about the products you love simply because you love them. So I make no excuses for quickly mentioning this fantastic shower gel from Frederic Malle. Along with patchouli and the scent of lilac, geranium is one of my absolute favourite smells, partly because it’s so wonderfully uplifting.

If you’ve sampled Malle’s Geranium Pour Monsieur you’ll know what a great fragrance it is but this shower gel is superb too partly because, unlike many other shower gels, it has the ability to scent more than just the water but your entire bathroom. That turns bathtime into a truly sensational (I’d say scentsational if I was being tabloid about it) experience.

Grooming Guru Essentials are the products I genuinely love and have used as part of my own routine.

The Lynx Manwasher – the ultimate shower tool for men

If there’s one thing you can say about Lynx it’s that they’ve never stopped being witty, clever and innovative. Their advertising has always pushed the envelope (the fallen angels remains one of my fave grooming ads) as have their products.

And now, in that spirit, the team at Lynx have developed the ultimate shower tool for men: The Lynx Manwasher. An easy to use, dual-sided shower accessory, the Manwasher makes for a brilliant, palm-sized body exfoliator, replacing cumbersome luffas and brushes, and can be used in conjunction with Lynx shower gels to ensure you get squeaky clean.

One side features a textured scrubbing pad (making it perfect for tackling tough skin on heels, elbows and knees) while the other has a lathering micro-mesh “scrunchie” which ensures you get the most out of your shower gel. Not only does it help whip up a fantastic lather (making your gel go further in the process) it also gently removes dead skin cells, polishing skin and leaving it smooth, soft and conditioned.

So whether you’re scrubbing up for an important date, interview or after a muddy Saturday afternoon five-aside the Lynx Manwasher is the perfect way to feel clean, confident and 100% fresh.

The Lynx Manwasher is available at retailers nationwide priced £3.99. For more information, special offers and other fun Lynx stuff go to www.facebook.com/lynxeffect

If you want to look after your body check out Bodhi

Men might better at looking after the skin on their faces these days but generally speaking they’re still pretty lax when it comes to looking after the skin on the rest of them. Me, I’m very fussy about things like shower gels, bath products and body moisturisers.

A brand I came across only recently but love is Bodhi. Free of chemical nasties like parabens, sulphates, petrochemicals and synthetic fragrances or colourants they’re great for the skin and – since they smell amazing – even better for the nose.

The Rosemary Chi is fantastically aromatic,  Mint Thé is bracing and perfect for mornings and Galangl Spice has a delightful Far Eastern vibe thanks to cardamon and Kaffir Lime leaf.  Especially worth checking out, though, is the the Pep Noir Energising Bath & Shower Therapy which is warm and spicy (thanks to black pepper and white thyme) but refreshing too, thanks to bergamot.  In fact, it could be the new Molton Brown Black Pepper Body Wash it’s that good.

Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino collection: magical stuff

Followers of this blog will know that The Grooming Guru has a real weakness for luxury bath soap. For me, unwrapping a bar of luxury soap is akin to unleashing a little bit of magic and a really good bar is a sensual, elemental and transformative thing – able to alter your mood as well as cleanse your body.

And if, like me, you share this love of luxury soaps you’re in for a real treat with the new bar that features in the line up of  Tom Ford’s new Neroli Portofino collection.

Based around Tom Ford’s Private Blend Neroli Portofino fragrance – with its unisex blend of Mediterranean citrus notes and bright, summery floral ones – the collection features features a whole range of bathtime goodies, including a bath oil, body moisturiser and shower gel.

When I unwrapped the soap it literally filled the room with its fragrance – a bit like a scent bomb. What’s more, it’s infused with olive fruit oil and date seed extract to provide a creamy, skin-nourishing bathtime experience. In three words IT. IS. AMAZING. And if you you have to go without food to afford a bar do I strongly suggest you so.

The Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Collection is available from Selfridges right now. The soap is £25 for a chunky 155g bar.

Anyone fancy a golden shower?

Ha! I bet when you read that headline you thought my account had been hacked into by some filthy pornographer right?

Well, no. One of my favourite British groomng brands, Bulldog, has actually gone and launched a brand new shower product called (cue sniggers) ‘Golden Shower Gel’. I know.

Can you imagine the meeting that took place to discuss the name? “Okay, so our new shower gel contains 24k gold leaf to exfoliate skin. Any suggestions?”
Exec 1: “I like the idea of a Golden Shower!”
Exec 2: “Mmmm, me too!”
Exec 3: “As a giver or a receiver?”

Still, I guess we must at least be thankful that the advertising slogan wasn’t ‘All Men Love a Golden Shower’. If that had been the case I’d have  probably wet myself.

Bulldog’s Golden Shower is available from April 1st. The launch date, I suspect, is very significant!
