Create your own meteor shower tonight

It’s one of my favourite annual events this weekend – the spectatular Perseid Meteor Shower. On a good year you can see up to 200 shooting stars an hour, which is a lot of wishes you can make if you believe seeing one happens to be lucky. If it’s too cloudy to see them where you are, though, I suppose you could always create you own little display at home with BLAQ’s new Meteor Shower shower scrub.

The final frontier in exfoliation (it actually contains meteorite dust) it also features sea salt and activated charcoal to help remove impurities. It’s also designed to leave a slight iridescent glow on the skin though don’t fret is leaving the house with glittery shoulders isn’t your thing – I found that the sparkle is minimal if you rinse thoroughly. The good news is that it’s 100% biodegradable, devoid of additives and preservatives and is cruelty-free too. What more could you wish (upon a star) for this weekend?

Blaq Meteor Shower is available from blaq.co, priced £19.95 for a resealable pack

Tom Ford For Men grooming range expands with three new products

tom fordTom Ford pretty much set the standard in luxury grooming when he launched his men’s Skincare and Grooming Collection a few years back and this June sees the range expand with the addition of three brand new products. As well as an Exfoliating Energy Scrub to brighten and revitalise dull, tired-looking skin and a moisturising Shave Oil there’s a new Brow Gelcomb too. The scrub is fantastically refreshing and the Shave Oil has a great, non-greasy texture which makes shaving a dream – especially around facial hair, where its transparency comes in really handy – but it’s the Gelcomb that’s the most interesting of the three products.

tom ford 2 (1)Designed to smooth down errant eyebrows it dispenses a tiny amount of (slightly tinted) gel via its comb head, allowing you to give your brows some shape, definition and symmetry. Is it a bathroom cabinet must-have? Probably not, in the sense that it’s hardly a grooming basic, but then, Tom Ford has always looked beyond the basics for his grooming rage which is what makes it so special. And if you’re the kind of guy who always wants look on point, even down to the very last detail, you’ll absolutely love it.

All three new products are available from June 1st.

Acqua di Parma’s Collezione Barbiere gets a new lease of life

8. Collezione Barbiere GroupageI still remember the tingle of excitement when I first saw Acqua di Parma’s Collezione Barbiere range a few years back. Lightly scented with their legendary Colonia fragrance it was just so luxurious, elegant and desirable. The only problem with it was that if you didn’t like the scent you were kind of stuffed. What if, for example, you liked the range but wore Acqua di Parma’s Blue Mediterraneo or the wonderful Colonia Intensa Oud fragrance?

acqua di parma scrubClearly the company must have been aware of this slight drawback because they’ve wisely reformulated the range with a barely-there scent that makes perfect sense commercially, allowing it to be used as a stand-alone grooming range regardless of the fragrance you wear.

Stars of the line up include the luxuriously thick and creamy Shaving Cream, the new Shaving Oil – which is fantastically light and non-greasy –  and the the Scrub Purificante Viso (I just love typing that – it sounds so good in Italian) which is especially worth having as it’s not too abrasive. What’s more, a brand new Eye Treatment and Face Cream have been added to round out the range and to elevate it from ancillary shaving range to a full-blown collection of skincare essentials. Definitely one of the new season’s must-buys.

Collezione Barbiere is available from Selfridges and your usual Acqua di Parma stockists from 1st October.

The Lynx Manwasher – the ultimate shower tool for men

If there’s one thing you can say about Lynx it’s that they’ve never stopped being witty, clever and innovative. Their advertising has always pushed the envelope (the fallen angels remains one of my fave grooming ads) as have their products.

And now, in that spirit, the team at Lynx have developed the ultimate shower tool for men: The Lynx Manwasher. An easy to use, dual-sided shower accessory, the Manwasher makes for a brilliant, palm-sized body exfoliator, replacing cumbersome luffas and brushes, and can be used in conjunction with Lynx shower gels to ensure you get squeaky clean.

One side features a textured scrubbing pad (making it perfect for tackling tough skin on heels, elbows and knees) while the other has a lathering micro-mesh “scrunchie” which ensures you get the most out of your shower gel. Not only does it help whip up a fantastic lather (making your gel go further in the process) it also gently removes dead skin cells, polishing skin and leaving it smooth, soft and conditioned.

So whether you’re scrubbing up for an important date, interview or after a muddy Saturday afternoon five-aside the Lynx Manwasher is the perfect way to feel clean, confident and 100% fresh.

The Lynx Manwasher is available at retailers nationwide priced £3.99. For more information, special offers and other fun Lynx stuff go to www.facebook.com/lynxeffect
