Green People’s new Men’s Collection: good for you, good for our woodland.

GREEN PEOPLE MEN'S COLLECTIONIf you’re one of those people who likes to do their Christmas shopping early or are simply looking for a great birthday/anniversary/thanks-for-cutting-the-hedge gift for someone you might want to have a look at one Green People’s limited edition skincare sets in aid of one my favourite charities, The Woodland Trust. There are four individual collections: Facial Care, Body Care, Hand Care and this handsome-looking Men’s Collection which features two 100ml body washes: a Peppermint & Eucalyptus one that’s perfect for gym bags and an Orange Peel and Clove wash that’s delightfully festive. They’re free of chemical nasties, made with certified organic ingredients and the packaging, featuring a noble stag, is absolutely lovely. What’s more,  30p from each sale of a men’s collection goes to The Woodland Trust to help with its preservation of our beautiful forests. As an animal lover and a nature lover I can’t think of a nicer gift.

The set costs £19.95 and is available from September from www.greenpeople.co.uk and via Ocado.

Bathing Beauty’s Babylon Soap is…a real beauty

Babylon-SoapIf you read this blog regularly you’ll know that a. I like bath soaps and b. I am obsessed with patchouli. So when a soap comes along that is scented with patchouli, well, you can imagine my excitement.

The Bathing Beauty’s Babylon Soap (£3.95 from bathing-beauty.co.uk is certainly one of the best soaps to have landed on my desk of late. Infused with hemp oil, fragranced with patchouli and studded with exfoliating poppy seeds it’s fantastically earthy and polishes skin a treat, without drying it out. Plus, it’s British (it’s handmade by ex-Burberry and Emporio Armani model/osteopath/natural skincare entrepreneur George Jones) and I’m always keen to support home-grown businesses.

So if you’re a guy looking for something a little bit more adventurous than a bar of supermarket soap give it a go. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.

REN get down and dirty to promote clean skin

REN have long been one of my favourite skincare companies, thanks to their carefully-sourced ingredients and understated packaging.  Ren itself means ‘clean’ in Swedish and to remind people of the company’s natural approach to skincare they’ve just produced their first short film.

Shot in a fjord in Sweden (makes you jealous just looking at it) and featuring two young lovers getting down and dirty (makes you even more jealous) there are two versions –  the one below and a naughty 18+ version, with lots of Swedish-style nudity, which I can’t show here but which you might want to look up on YouTube!

Josephine’s Rose candle by Jonathan Ward – the ultimate bedroom accessory

Looking for a great Valentine’s gift for the woman in your life? Then how about this fantastic scented candle from Jonathan Ward London? Inspired by the legendary romance between Napoleon and Jospehine and the latter’s passion for roses, Josephine’s Rose features a medley of rose notes (english rose, tuberose and tea rose) but manages to avoid being old fashioned or ‘Nanish’ thanks to a sexy, musky note of amber.

As with the Serge Lutens fragrance Tuberose Criminelle (which I reviewed here) when rose is ‘sexed-up’ by other ingredients, debased a little if you will, it always smells miles better to me.

As always Jonathan is clever with his choice of ingredients – taking something potentially ordinary and giving it his own unique twist so it becomes extraordinary. Ideal for setting the perfect bedroom mood. Just add matches and willing partner.

Korres launch new soap collection. The Grooming Guru is a happy man.

Okay, okay so by now you know I’m something of a soap junkie (I don’t know why I don’t just set up a special category on this blog for ‘Soap News’!) so forgive me but when I opened this little package this morning I couldn’t have been more in my element.

What you’re looking at is the new gentle-cleansing soap collection from Korres, one of my favourite ‘cult’ beauty and grooming brands. Each one is made from 95.5%- 99.3% natural ingredients, is glycerine-based and is free from nasty chemicals.

What’s more, none of them honk to high heaven. Instead, each has a fantastically delicate, clean aroma based on the active ingredient it contains (choose between Pomegrante, Wheat, Milk and, my own personal favourite, Chamomile). Anyway, the upshot is that bathtime just became… funtime!

Korres soaps are available online from www.nivenandjoshua.co.uk
