Ahoy there! There’s a new limited edition of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male on the horizon!

JPG_LE MALE_2015 Ltd Ed_IMAGE 6BGenerally speaking I’m very suspicious of limited edition versions of popular fragrances (at the end of the day they’re essentially a way of shifting more units) but I’m always rather excited whenever there’s a new edition of Jean Paul Gaultier’s iconic Le Male because they’re always such fun and so well executed. And since a new one emerges every spring I can’t be the only one who enjoys them. This year, the fragrance takes on a pirate theme, with a crimson skull and a pair of crossed sabres emblazoned on a sailor’s jersey. If you’re a collector you’ll no doubt want to add it to your swag but if you’re just a fan of Le Male and are running low this is the perfect time to replenish your stock. And I know it has a pirate theme but do me a favour and pay for it rather than just ‘appropriate’ it, ok?

Available from Feb 2nd while stocks last.

Lacoste’s Limited Edition L.12.12. fragrance hits the right spot

lacosteSince my favourite sporting event, Wimbledon, is almost upon us, now seems like the perfect time for me to mention the special limited edition version of Lacoste’s Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc fragrance. Although the fragrances in the ever-expanding L.12.12 range have always referenced the famous Lacoste polo shirt in the packaging this is the first time that the tennis association has really been referenced overtly, with the clean, white packaging brought to life with touches of eye-catching tennis ball yellow. I’ve always loved the understated simplicity of both the bottles and the boxes that house the L.12.12 fragrances and, unlike many limited editions, the changes in this particular edition only serve (if you’ll excuse the pun) to make it look even better.

Hugo Boss hit the right note with new Hugo Man Limited Edition

HUGO MANFan of Hugo Boss’ Hugo Man? And of music? Then you’re likely to like the brand new Limited Edition version of this classic fragrance. Playing on a music theme, the Hugo Man Music Limited Edition bottle features a graphic equaliser detail and each box comes with a special download code for two unique musical reworkings of classic songs like Edwin Collins’ A Girl Like You, Kim Carnes’ Bette Davis Eyes and Toto’s Africa (!) by up-and-coming artists like Nina Kraviz and Kate Boy.

The fragrance itself  –  a crisp, juicy and woody blend of green apples, pine needles, sandalwood and cedarwood  – remains the same, which is just as well given the enduring popularity it’s enjoyed since its launch almost 20 years ago.

Available from February.

DKNY master the art of fragrance reinvigoration

DKNY_FY13_HARING_PACK_MEN_50T7-jpg-low2

It’s a dilemma for every fashion or fragrance house with a successful scent; how do you keep the momentum going on a successful, established signature fragrance? One solution, of course, is the Limited Edition.

Sometimes these are pretty lame but here’s one, courtesy of DKNY definitely worth having. The DKNY Art Men Keith Haring Edition features a carton and bottle (a whole 9.5 inches of it) emblazoned with the legendary New York artist’s iconic figures. There’s not much more that I can say about it other than it looks rather fantastic.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside…especially at Christmas

Fan of Comme des Garçons? Then make sure you grab yourself one (or all) of these special limited edition fragrances. Launching in time for Christmas but delightfully un-Chistmassy they feature the work of German-born artist Sandra Korn and feature bottle designs inspired by the sea. Left to right: Amazingreen, Wonderwood & CDG2. Sure beats Christmas trees and holly.

Launching in the third week of November, each fragrance costs £75 for a 50ml eau de parfum and is available from Dover Street Market.

It must be spring – the Paul Smith bunny is here!

GWPs (gift with purchases) can be notoriously hit and miss (and I’ve had a preview of some right stinkers coming up this year) but Paul Smith always manages to deliver with his.

Today this little chap becomes available with any purchase of a 50ml or 100ml Paul Smith fragrance from Boots and other department stores while stocks last.  Pick on up and pass it on to the other half, the kids or, dare I say it, keep it for yourself?

Tuberose Criminelle by Serge Lutens – the 13 word review

If I have a fault as a writer it’s that I’m a terrible waffler so in a rare attempt at brevity I am going to try to sum up the exquisite Tuberose Criminelle – the new fragrance by Serge Lutens in just one sentence. And here it is…

Tuberose Criminelle: as if a rose were standing above you brandishing handcuffs and a whip. There, job done.

A limited edition unisex fragrance with notes of tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom, hyacinth, musk and vanilla (amongst others) Tuberose Criminelle is available from Liberty from 3rd October and nationwide from 17th priced £78 for 50 ml EDP.
