Give your skin a sporting chance with Palmer’s MEN Cocoa Butter Formula Body & Face Lotion

PALMER'S MEN BODY & FACE LOTIONWhenever people ask me what my best grooming tip is I often fire back with one simple word: moisturise! Of all the steps you can take to protect your looks it’s the probably the most important and, luckily, the simplest too.

It’s no good just looking after the stuff on your face though: you need to take care of the skin on the rest of your body too. This is especially important if you’re a gym-goer and shower a lot (all that hot water can strip skin of its natural oils) or play a lot of outdoor sport and subject your extremities to the elements.

Palmer’s MEN Cocoa Butter Formula Body & Face Lotion is the perfect way to moisturise both your face and body with one easy-to-use product. Containing skin-nourishing Vitamin E and high-quality Cocoa Butter it smells great and is ideal for keeping skin in tip-top condition, whether you’re an office worker or a rugby pro.

And speaking of rugby, to celebrate the Six Nations and the forthcoming Lions Tour Palmer’s are running a great competition where you can win one of 20 Palmer’s ‘Be Smooth’ packs (featuring a 250ml and 400ml Palmer’s MEN Body & Face Lotion, along with other Palmer’s products,  plus a selection of Kooga Rugby products including a rugby ball, watter bottle and sports bag. There’s also a Grand Prize you really won’t want to miss out on! For more info click here.

Palmer’s MEN Body & Face Lotion is available in the Bodycare section of the larger Boots, Sainsbury’s and Wilkinson.

The Lynx Manwasher – the ultimate shower tool for men

If there’s one thing you can say about Lynx it’s that they’ve never stopped being witty, clever and innovative. Their advertising has always pushed the envelope (the fallen angels remains one of my fave grooming ads) as have their products.

And now, in that spirit, the team at Lynx have developed the ultimate shower tool for men: The Lynx Manwasher. An easy to use, dual-sided shower accessory, the Manwasher makes for a brilliant, palm-sized body exfoliator, replacing cumbersome luffas and brushes, and can be used in conjunction with Lynx shower gels to ensure you get squeaky clean.

One side features a textured scrubbing pad (making it perfect for tackling tough skin on heels, elbows and knees) while the other has a lathering micro-mesh “scrunchie” which ensures you get the most out of your shower gel. Not only does it help whip up a fantastic lather (making your gel go further in the process) it also gently removes dead skin cells, polishing skin and leaving it smooth, soft and conditioned.

So whether you’re scrubbing up for an important date, interview or after a muddy Saturday afternoon five-aside the Lynx Manwasher is the perfect way to feel clean, confident and 100% fresh.

The Lynx Manwasher is available at retailers nationwide priced £3.99. For more information, special offers and other fun Lynx stuff go to www.facebook.com/lynxeffect

Nivea For Men’s Sensitive Hydro Gel – the perfect cure for ‘stubble dandruff’!

Having sported a beard (or at least something approximating one) for something like 10 years now I’m acutely aware that it can bring with it a few little ‘problems’. Apart from the itchiness and odour isssues after you’ve slurped your way through a bowl of spaghetti vongole (my fave pasta dish) there’s the dreaded ‘beard dandruff’ to contend with too.  And there’s nothing worse than scratching your chin and ending up a snowglobe.

Part of the problem is that stubble tends to wick moisture away from the skin where it’s allowed to evaporate. This means that the skin under your bristles often ends up dry, flaky and itchy. The solution, of course, is to use a good moisturiser. Unfortunately, many can leave sticky residues on your beard so Nivea For Men have come up with a stubble-friendly version.

Their Sensitive Hydro Gel is the ideal way to hydrate skin under stubble because it’s lightweight, non greasy and easily absorbed. Since it also contains organic Chamomile and Aloe Vera it also has skin-calming, anti-inflammatory properties too.  If you’ve got stubble this is an essential.

Nivea For Men’s Sensitive Hydro Gel is available from Boots.

Grooming Guru Essentials: Spiezia Propolis Ointment

As someone who suffers from psoriasis I’m constantly on the look out for products that can improve  or relieve the condition. Although, the only thing that really seems to work for me is sunlight and seawater (a great reason for me to self-prescribe holidays!) various lotions and portions have helped over the years too.

My current favourite is this fantastic ointment from one of my favourite organic skincare brands, Spiezia. Perfect for psoriasis, as well as for eczema, sore, dry skin and athlete’s foot, it’s a rich topical treatment made from extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, calendula and propolis – a resinous product bees produce in their hives to protect against bacteria, parasites and other infections. It’s great for keeping skin soft and supple and to prevent flaking and, thanks to a blend of lavender, thyme and grapefruit extracts, smells absolutely amazing too.

I love the smell so much I also dab a tiny amount on my chest before bed and the soothing smell of lavender acts as a brilliant sleep aid. Spiezia products are also produced in one of my favourite parts of the world – Cornwall – and are 100% organic. Do you really need any more reasons to give it a go?!

Spiezia Propolis Ointment costs £17.95 for 50ml and is available from www.spieziaorganics.com

Grooming Guru Essentials: Anthony Logistics Facial Cleanser

When I first started writing about male grooming many years ago this superb cleansing for dry or sensitive skin was one of the first products I genuinely fell in love with. Because it’s non-drying, it’s perfect for skin like mine which can be a bit on the sensitive side and which easily ends up as tight as a drum after using cheaper cleansers. Glycerin-based (so much kinder on the skin that soap) it features extracts of azulene (an organic oil that’s great for redness and irritation) and a raft of other natural skin conditioners. It smells fantastic and – best of all – it’s bright blue!
